ScIenCe? hMmm…

Everyday, I learn the knowledge and try to understand and memorize the concept. Sometimes, I really wonder, why do I need to learn all these things? I am not interested in learning this subject. Sorry, it is not my field of interest. Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Math are the core subjects in science which students need to score, but I am really a failure. Not only me, but also-almost all of my friends in my batch. Then, I realize something, many students learn those subjects because they are required to do so in order to obtain degree and getting a good job. That is why; they cannot assimilate with the surge of the knowledge.

Before the knowledge of science and technology developed, the most discussed and the most popular subject is philosophy. Believe it or not, many principles of science arose from philosophy. As evidence, many of the great scientists are philosophers who use science and philosophy knowledge to find truth. Let us revise back the definition of philosophy; generally it means ‘to love wisdom’. That means, in philosophy, people want to seek the truth and the reality behind every matter. Science is one of the tools to achieve the truth.

As Muslim students, if we really understand the reason of studying science, we will work hard towards installing it in ourselves. We have known our God from the revelation and the words of our beloved Prophet p.b.u.h.; of course we cannot have any doubt about the fact. So, we assume that we have known the truth, and therefore, we don’t have the effort to prove the truth to other people. Then, we feel complacent with our condition while the non-Muslim westerners are accelerating in digging knowledge on the creation of Allah. After that, they use the knowledge for materialistic purpose. And even worse, they use the precious gift to destroy us. Remember, we have left far behind the western when the Muslim empire collapsed. So, for those who really interested in science and technology, let manipulate science to prove the ‘truth’ to the society.
